Service Industries
This covers a broad definition of work that does not directly generate products - finance, law, consultancy, marketing, health care, communications, information, design, media, leisure, education, distribution, retail, etc. Some of the categories toward the end of this list are covered directly in other sections.
Service industries generate over two-thirds of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employment in developed countries.
Personnel are a high component of service costs, since the quality of most services depends largely on the abilities of the individuals providing the them.
