Derbyshire Dales

View Links

The Derbyshire Dales covers an area of outstanding countryside stretching from the outskirts of Sheffield in the north, to the Staffordshire border 45 miles to the south.

The district contains 70,000 people and has 4 market towns: Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock, and Wirksworth.

Derbyshire Dales District Council is based in Matlock. They have a free indepenent advice service providing face to face support for businesses in the Dales.

Around 12 million people visit the area each year. Many come on day trips from nearby Derby, Manchester and Sheffield, to the Peak District National Park. Key attractions include Chatsworth, Matlock Bath, Dovedale, and Haddon Hall.

Most businesses in the Dales are small. Hidden within the general affluence of the district, there are pockets of rural deprivation.
