Help with using the Business Directory

Who May Register?

Any business that produces goods or services in the Peak District Rural Action Zone area can register their details and information about their products on this website for free. The area includes Derbyshire Dales, High Peak and Staffordshire Moorlands - see the detailed maps for each of these by selecting from the interactive PDRAZ map at top left.

Registering

To initiate registration you need a password to access the registration form. This password may have been issued with promotional material about the site, or may be obtained by contacting the website.

When registering you need to give a valid email address, which will act as a user name, and a password. These enable you to access and edit your details whenever you wish.

Confirmation of Email Address

After you have entered your initial details, an email will be sent for you to confirm that you own the email address - only after making the confirmation will your entry become active in the Business Directory.

Editing

Once registered, you can edit you details at any time by logging in with your Email Username and Password on the Administration page (which is linked to by the ICMS logo at lower left on each page). Then simply go to the Business Directory and select the EDIT control next to your entry, make the required changes and submit them.

The word-processor editing box (with the controls shown below) is used to enter the main details about your business or products.  You can ignore the controls and just copy or write in any text you want (if you copy from heavily formatted documents it can be best to clean the text up by pasting into the notepad on your PC and then copying that clean text into the form).  However, if you wish, you can use the controls to format your entry and to add pictures etc.

Editing controls

The controls give an indication of their function when you place the mouse pointer over them.  Further details are available on the Help file accessible from the editing page.  The text can be made bold, italic, underlined, coloured, and the font changed in size or style (best to stick with Arial).  Preformatted headings may be added in various sizes.  Blocks of text can be aligned, bulleted or indented.  Images can be inserted and aligned. Links can be made from highlighted text or images.

A series of Flash animated tutorials are available, demonstrating how to use various functions of the Editor:
